How do Mondays come so Fast?

8/31/2026

I'm always flabbergasted when I wake up and discover it's  Monday again.  I shouldn't be - I'm a big proponent of the old cliché "the days are long but the years are short" apparently the weeks are short too!

I've discovered a few things this week - first - I apparently like Thai food as long as it's not spicy - except the Tom Ka soup which is spicy from all the ginger but I like it so much I don't care LOL.  There's a little family owned Thai restaurant less than a mile from my house and I plan to eat there a lot more often now!

The other thing I learned is that besides your traditional hospital and a skilled nursing facility for rehab, there is a middle step more commonly known as LTACH : Long term acute care hospital.  What this means is that when your friend or loved one needs to be booted out of a hospital room because the hospital needs the bed, but their situation requires RN and doctor monitoring of wounds, infections, IVs etc - LTACH is the answer.  The problem, most hospitals do not mention this. I have no idea why, but they don't.  I found out simply because AI when I was searching for best facilities told me that my friend - author Kathy Ivan - needed an LTACH level of care not a skilled nursing. BOY was AI right - this time LOL.  I am known for referring to AI as Almost Intelligent, but this time, it came through and then some.  The drs at the LTACH immediately put her right back on IV antibiotics and there have been two doctors checking that wound every morning - I am very optimistic that things will only get better now for my friend!  But please folks, keep this in mind as our insurance system pushes people out of hospitals faster than they should and the relapse rate from Skilled Nursing is really high across the country.  I had to ask for an LTACH and the doctors and staff all agreed, yes she would qualify no problem--why they didn't suggest it from the get go I have no idea, but it's information worth keeping in your bag of tricks as you and your loved ones age.

The last thing I learned is that all of my cardiac symptoms line up with the symptoms of Pulmonary Hypertension.  I'm still waiting to hear back from my new cardiologist about it and have an appt in a few weeks with my previous GP who changed practices and was the first one to diagnose my heart condition. I'm hoping he'll be more helpful but anyone who knows me knows I cough all year long, regardless of whether or not it's allergy season, and that doctors are always giving me pills and syrups to try and contain it when I travel so I don't scare the heck out of folks on the plane or at a conference.  That one symptom, coughing is what had me on high alert that maybe what I have is not microvascular heart disease but pulmonary hypertension. If anyone has experience with this - by all means SHARE - please.  Either way, I should have more answers in a few weeks!

If you're looking for book news - Sweet Courage is live for sale everywhere. Though for reasons I have yet to understand - the paperback is still not available at Amazon, but it is at Barnes and Noble - Amazon is really a pill about carrying paperbacks. Y'all who like paper and like amazon should reach out and complain why can you buy the book at BN and not Amazon- because heaven knows they could care less what the authors have to say about it lol.

I'm also working hard on Sweet Trust, the November release for the Honeysuckle Rescue series - This is the first female K9 and I'm hoping she turns out to be everything I expect! yes, I often expect one thing and the characters- human and canine - tend to have opinions of their own lol. We'll see how this one turns out.

I'm also curious if everyone knows in January there will be a new firefighter series? As soon a I finish Sweet Trust I'll be starting on Flicker of Hope and am crossing my fingers I can share some snippets!

Well, that's it for me for today - I am in between babysitting the six month old grandbaby - though I have no idea how she got so big so fast! - and visiting Kathy at the LTACH because the poor woman is bored out of her skull confined to bed, not allowed to put any weight at all on the foot that had surgery.

Take care everyone and lets all pray for cooler weather to prevail - not cold mind you, just not turkey baking temps!
