Lots Happening

I am inches away - okay chapters - but not many - from finishing Sweet Trust. It's always exciting to get to this part of the book where everything seems to finally come together.  And to make sure it's all as authentic as possible, I did another one of my little research events. I've been known to visit feed stores, stables, equine centers, and who knows what else to add a layer of authenticity to the situations I build - this time it was a chili cook off. 

Yep - you heard it here - there's going to be a chili cook off in Sweet Trust and I'm planning on using all the layers I learned - there's probably a video up (If not now soon ) on youtube of the situation.  I'm so glad I went. There's so much I never would have realized and it's just not the same when you read what goes on vs watching it.  I sure hope y'all enjoy the results! ​

And for folks waiting to hear updates on my friend Author Kathy Ivan - she's making great improvement - the foot is healing better than they thought and we're suspecting she may be home in less than two weeks - fingers crossed and prayers said! 

My next step is packing. I leave Wed for New York.  I have meetings with authors, and vendors and am truly looking forward to the break in the weather - we're still in the 100s here in Texas most days - maybe in the high 90s - but rarely below body temperature so whether it's 98 or 108 we're all miserable outdoors!  But in NY - I even packed a light jacket!  and did you catch that - Packed - how cool is that. I think it may be the first time in my life I am fully packed and ready to go three days before my trip.  My norm is usually throwing stuff in a suitcase hours before leaving for the airport. 

Earlier this year I was on a business zoom call - mentioned leaving for the airport in an hour - when someone playfully ran through their packing list and I realized - oops - forgot something and ran upstairs to grab and pack it!  This time, I'm feeling pretty confident that I have everything.  And this will make travel day easier as it's all going to be tight helping with the grands logistics and getting me to the airport in time too.
