So excited to be out of the 100 degree heat! yep - I said it LOL.  While I don't mind 100 degrees in Texas in August - that just comes with the territory - 100 degrees deep into September is not for me!

Now while I am delighted to be in upper 60 to 70 degree weather here in NY, I had to laugh this weekend. As I was making some additional plans to see people, everyone, including the friend I'm staying with, had to mention "you know a noreaster is coming" and I had to look up the weather. My mind is, gee if this is going to be a really dangerous storm, maybe I shouldn't be out driving. Well, when I saw the weather forecast it's 60% chance of rain, and 20mph winds and 60sh degrees.  I'm thinking - good heavens - that's a regular rain storm in Texas. The reason I'm so often fishing my patio furniture out of the pool - but NOT why we stay home!  lol.

I kept thinking, when did NYers become such wooses LOL. Now, I will say that anyone who lives near water has every right to take precautions, but I'm not near the beach or coast - I'm completely inland - in hilly country (which to me means water runs off instead of creating flash floods like Texas) and not sure what the fuss is all about.  WELL - Saturday and Sunday came and went and I STILL don't know what the fuss was all about.  As expected, the shore (In Jersey not even NY) got slammed, but where I am is just slow steady drizzle that I would have killed for in Texas.

Some of you will recognize this spot as one of my happy places. Yes I adore the beach, love the salty smell of the ocean, the roar of the waves, but when that's not an option, this place is a good second. Especially after the stressful few weeks I've had with my friend's health, another friend's work issues, book deadlines (I'm always behind lol) and just ordinary stuff tossed at us, being here is extremely peaceful and healing.

I'm guessing folks not from NY only picture Manhattan when they think of the state - but it's actually quite green when you get out of the city.
Panning left to right. Pretty isn't it - and only a short train ride into Manhattan!  I also had a fun lunch with a handful of high school classmates - hard to believe how life has gone by.  Not only did we grow up and become parents, now most of us are grandparents too -though I will freely admit we look nothing like grandparents looked when we were kids!
I have already started on the new series - the firefighters of Hart land.  This is new effort for me, leaving behind my Texas families and working on firemen.  Do y'all want to see the first scene? Let me know in the comments and we'll see what we can do next week - the book is available for preorder everywhere - though Amazon has the wrong price and no idea when that's going to be fixed!

well - I think we've caught up pretty well for now! I'll be going back to Flicker of Hope now! Catch you next week!
