Thanks for stopping by.  If you’re new to my website, I’m the author of over fifty romantic fiction novels, and a series of short stories I call  Flirts. I love to tell a story that sometimes makes you laugh, sometimes makes you cry, often has a surprise or two, but always ends happily ever after.

I live in North Texas with my husband, a rescued German Shepherd who believes himself to be the neighborhood goodwill ambassador (the German Shepherd, not my hubby),  a fifty-pound American Pit Bull who is convinced he's a lapdog.  Occasionally I get to puppysit my Golden Retriever  grandpuppy.  All dutifully sit at my feet as I write my next story.

So come on in, explore my pages, and see what's in store for you!

Another Week Another Ankle LOL

Those of you who have followed me a very long time probably know that my ankles and I have a love hate relationship.  It all started a million years ago when I was in college and working the graveyard shift at the Indian Point Nuclear Power plant, I slipped in the rain and got my ankle caught in between two cinder blocks. Ouch is an understatement.  The down side, I couldn't put any weight on that ankle for months, really create bedlam with my college courses and trying to cross campus on crutches. The upside? I learned to drive with my left foot. A skill that once learned never leaves you!

So fast forward a few years and that blasted ankle twisted in a hole in my yard - ages to recover again.  Keep moving forward and I tripped off the front steps and this time I was out of commission for months. And both times I had to go through months of water therapy to get the flexibility back, but back I got it!

Of course this means that for decades I had a good foot and a bad foot.  See where this is going? Yep - several years ago - five weeks before my trip to Paris to speak at a book conference, I tripped coming down the stairs. Only this time - it was my good foot. After five weeks I boarded a plane for France with a cane and an orthotic boot. Spent the next few weeks hobbling around France for the conference and then Italy visiting a cousin. All in all I think I was in that darn book 9 weeks - which was months less than the previous two incidents with my bad foot. Which left me with a bad foot and a better foot - no more good foot LOL.

Come back to this weekend. Yep - here we go again. Stepping off into a sunken dining room, one foot in the air, the bad foot on the step - the bad foot twisted out from under me and sent me falling splat on the marble floor like a landed trout. I managed to bruise my left shin (the better foot), skin my left knee, bang my left shoulder, sprain my right ankle, and yesterday I discovered that it apparently is perfectly possible to give yourself a slight case of whiplash by falling. Who knew? LOL.  The bright side of all this is that for the first time in my ankle history I have an honest to goodness simple sprain. My foot is swollen a bit - but not as much in times past. It's also bruised quite a bit - but not as colorful as in times past. I'm also limping but able to walk - a complete shift from unable to put weight on it for months in times past.  All in all, could be a heck of a lot worse!

As you can see - here is my lovely colorful foot this morning, and me five years ago in Milan with the dumb boot!
As for book news - Owen is absolutely, beyond the shadow of any doubt, releasing on Tuesday April 25th so if you haven't preordered already, grab your copy now!

And much to my surprise, we know a little bit more about Paxton and Quinn.  Paxton is also up for preorder and it turns out that Owen's Identical twin is going to fall for a single mom. How about that! And Grumpy Quinn (sorry no preorder on him) will be falling for a Miss Sunshine. I'm looking forward to seeing how those two turn out.

Did you know that about me? I'm what's called a pantser in the book biz. I don't plot out books, I'm surprised by what happens as I go along (in other words: Write by the seat of my pants LOL) That's the whole reason I write - I want to know how things wind up as much as you do!

Okay, time for more food and ibuprofen.

Anyone else have a love hate relationship with themselves LOL ? :)

Oh No, Chris I can't imagine the pain you've been through all these years. I guess it sounds a bit better this time, but wow, that looks awful. I'm loving Owen, and looking forward to Paxton & Quinn. Take care of yourself

anytime I can sleep through the night without pain in my foot waking me up with every move - it's a good recovery prognosis!! :)

Hi Chris, I just read my first book written by you called Mai Tai Marriage. I thoroughly enjoyed this book as a former military wife and mother of a Naval Officer (Son) and Army Officer (Daughter). I have just purchased the first two books in this series. I love your reasons for writing. I too always love a happy ending. I look forward to reading many of your books. I too am a clutz and have had a twisted ankle and messy falls. Not fun, inconvenient, uncomfortable, but well healed. Praying this time you are not too uncomfortable and heal quickly.

so glad you enjoyed the story! That was actually one of my favorites to have written back in the day! My foot is doing better every day - the odd thing is now that my ankle is improving, I'm discovering that it looks like I broke my pinky toe - lol - No clue how the heck that happened!
