Thanks for stopping by.  If you’re new to my website, I’m the author of over fifty romantic fiction novels, and a series of short stories I call  Flirts. I love to tell a story that sometimes makes you laugh, sometimes makes you cry, often has a surprise or two, but always ends happily ever after.

I live in North Texas with my husband, a rescued German Shepherd who believes himself to be the neighborhood goodwill ambassador (the German Shepherd, not my hubby),  a fifty-pound American Pit Bull who is convinced he's a lapdog.  Occasionally I get to puppysit my Golden Retriever  grandpuppy.  All dutifully sit at my feet as I write my next story.

So come on in, explore my pages, and see what's in store for you!

I love spending time with my grandson. I’ve always been fond of babies and fortunately for me, even though this one is approaching two and no longer a baby, he’s still adorable to watch!

The other fun thing is he really enjoyed playing with my mother. Mom would have loved to have had twelve kids, but she had to settle for one little old me !  As a result she laughs and laughs at everything her great grandson does.  Even when he makes a game of standing behind her on the sofa and pushing her forward. Bless mom’s patience level!

We went looking at houses once again. This time with hopes of finding something so mom can stay with my daughter until her memory really disintegrates. It’s hard because Texas is dealing with a real estate boom and a lot – and boy do I mean a lot – of seller are trying to take advantage and are asking insane prices. By insane I mean as much as two hundred thousand dollars more than they paid for the house six months ago! And that’s without changing a thing!  So I’m vigilant for the honest deals that are a bit higher but not six figures higher! And that is making the shopping harder.

For now, Mom is staying in the guest room at my daughters and we’ll see how they all get along for more than a weekend. It will be interesting to see how all the interaction affects Mom. Will keep y’all posted!

On the bright side, I did a lot of eating this weekend. We ordered pizza one night, and they cooked spaghetti and meatballs another and then we had Mexican take out last night. None of them were diet friendly meals and yet I only gained a few ounces. I was delighted! For me it really seems like skipping breakfast and not eating till lunch time is doing wonders for not gaining weight! Today I am keeping my calorie intake low to try and lose those few ounces. My mission is to maintain the fifteen pound weight loss I accomplished over the last two months.  Then after a while I’ll give losing another ten or fifteen pounds a shot.

If all goes well, by next week’s blog I will have stabilized my weight, have great news to report on Mom, and have started writing again. I’m a bit behind and need to get caught up on that!

Take care and enjoy!  Here’s a picture of my grandson and me. He was enthralled with a movie on the TV.  Just love snuggling with that little guy!

Do all your family live close by or do you guys have to drive to see everyone too!

We have 5 kids, one son & his family live in Edmonton Alberta (we're in Ontario), another son moves where the jobs take him from one end of the country to the other, one daughter & family live an hour away, another lives 45 minutes away and one daughter & family live 15 minutes away in the town near us. So we do a lot of phone calls, video chats & texting.
The housing market up here is insane too, my brother was going to put the house up last year for 1.3 million, but things prevented it. They finally have it listed again, and this time it was appraised at 2.7 million!! My grandparents very old duplex was sold when my uncle passed in the winter, it sold for well over a million. I can't imagine a young family starting out trying to buy a home. I did hear the market is starting to level out, I'll believe that when I see it.
Have a wonderful week, and hopefully your mom settles well with your daughter & family. It sounds like she's enjoying it so far.
Debbie :)

Mom loves kids so she's doing well so far - and my daughter is saying she wants four kids - she wants to break the small family cycle that has been our family - she has zero first cousins because I'm an only child and my husband's two siblings never married. My son isn't married or in a serious relationship so there's little chance of my grandson having first cousins close in age on this side and my son in law has one sister with one son who is 8 years older than my grandson so he won't have that fun relationship that most kids have with first cousins. I had it growing up with second cousins but my kids really didn't.

We'll see how it goes - the only thing today's young families have in their favor is that interest rates are really low. Even though our first house only cost 80k we also had a 10% mortgage rate - so at 2.5% folks can afford a lot more house!

the house my daughter bought when she was single at 4% interest was cheaper than renting!

Only have one brother and I haven’t seen him and his wife in nearly two years. They live across the state from me and go to AZ for the winter. Saw them just before they left in the fall of 2019 and then COVID hit so no chance to get together last year. We’re planning now to be together in another month and I can’t wait!

that's wonderful - it's been hard on families that have had to stay apart this last year - and it's great to have even one sibling! I know you'll have a blast!
